Yep, that's right. If Joe the Plumber is still voting for McCain after tonight's debate, he needs to have his whole system cleared.
In the first 20 minutes of the debate, a different McCain was at the table. But, soon enough, the old and delirious John McCain surfaced once again. And, need I say, this is one angry individual. It seemed very difficult, thru most of the remaining debate, for McCain to control himself. If we could just find a way of harnessing all that steam coming out of McCain's ears, we could most certainly solve the energy crisis. He turned beet red and seemed even shaky with rage many times during the debate. As McCain was responding to the question regarding the total negativity of his campaign, he acted as if he and his campaign were completely justified in what has become a constant barrage of personal assaults on Obama. He actually had the balls to bring up the Ayers, Acorn and John Lewis attacks, paving Obama's high road for him. He avoided the important domestic questions of today's America regarding the economy and healthcare and seemed to be forever stuck on the tax issue, wherein once again, he lied his way thru. McCain's commentary on how he would choose a Supreme Court Justice was, in a word, confusing. Firstly, he told us that he would never use a litmus test of Pro-Life to determine his Justice choice and ended by saying that he would never appoint a Supreme Court Justice who was Pro-choice. And, last but not least, his defense of Miss Prissy Pants was laughable.
Barrack Obama remained the cool and even-tempered candidate, per usual. He was caught a couple of times on the defensive, realized it immediately and proceeded to turn the debate back to an Democratically offensive tone. Obama's answers were well thought out, for the most part, and delivered with the confidence and overall persuasive demeanor of a man standing alongside the truth. He answered all of McCain's fictional attacks with the smooth eloquence he has become known for. Even when unexpected questions were posed, he delivered smart and accurate responses. Obama's total faith in Joe Biden as his running mate came off as a striking and unchallenged comparison to the choice that his opponent has made. The healthcare question? Slam-dunked that one with ease. His careful defense of Rowe vs. Wade was no less than perfect. As John McCain's attempts to bait Obama were constant, so were Obama's cool rebuttals. Instead of rolling his eyeballs and making funny faces as McCain often did, Obama just smiled as he waited for his turn to speak.
To conclude, I would say to Joe the Plumber.....if you want your children and grandchildren to go to college and excel, if you don't want to ever be buried forever in healthcare costs, if you want your son to come home from Iraq soon, if you want your 401K to ever regain its losses and if you want your damn plumbing company to get off the ground any time soon, vote Obama for President of the United States on November 4th.
(Special Note: Jeez, am I the only one that is ecstatic that there are no more debates?!!?!!?!? I say this as I listen to the soft and comforting sound of the fat lady's aria.)
