SPECIAL PRIVILEGES FOR SECRET SNITCHES

I know you are sick of talking about the economy. And since the election is pretty much over (i.e. McCain, bye-bye!), lets try something new and very different.

Have you heard of The FBI's 'InfraGard', a secret and privileged organization formed to snoop and snitch on oftentimes innocent citizens? I have because I was asked to become a member of this secret organization about 1-1/2 yrs ago. I declined for what will become obvious reasons. In the 10/02/08 edition of Sacramento News and Review, InfraGard surfaced again as Amanda Witerall's No. 3 in "Censored! The Top 10 Stories Media Ignored". So what is InfraGard exactly? According to InfraGard's website, InfraGard is a "partnership between the FBI and the private sector". Its participants are "dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States". Not too bad, so far, huh? But haven't we been told that ALL Americans should report unusual and suspicious activity? Matthew Rothschild, editor of The Progressive, a watchdog publication in existence since 1909 and dedicated to social justice, reports that members of InfraGard "receive secret warnings of terrorist threats before the public does - and, at least on one occasion, before elected officials". As a matter of record, in November, 2001, a credible terrorist threat to California's bridges was relayed to then Governor Gray Davis by his brother, a member of InfraGard, BEFORE the fed's official notification. In return for this seemingly 'inside' info, InfraGard members provide information on potential and/or threatening suspects to the FBI. The members are also provided with special training to be utilized in case of a national or community emergency. They are given membership cards with secret phone numbers and website contacts giving them access to an FBI secure communication network complete with a VPN encrypted website. Mr. Rothschild goes on to say that card-carrying members tell of small InfraGard meetings where agents of the FBI and Homeland Security discuss, in frightening detail, what InfraGard members may be called upon to do. Members have been told that when martial law is declared in an emergency, it is their responsibility to protect their assigned portion of the infrastructure, and if they have to use deadly force to protect it, they will not be prosecuted. These are everyday citizens, folks. NOT law enforcement. Members of InfraGard can only be recruited by other members or by the FBI. In case of a national crisis, members have been assured of special treatment in regards to access to safe harbors for themselves and their families. I was told this, myself, when I was asked to join InfraGard. By the way, I was approached by someone many of you know and would probably not suspect was a member of a secret government club. InfraGard was established in 1996 and, until 9/11/2001, had approximately 1,700 members. Since the 9/11 tragedy, InfraGard has grown to 26,000 members. Some members are typical American citizens like you and I. On the other hand, 350 of our nation's Fortune 500 companies have representatives involved, leaving open the possibility of even more favoritism during a crisis. I would hope that all American citizens take the responsibility of reporting suspicious activity and that all American citizens are treated equally during a crisis. This 'special' organization is reminiscent, to me, of Nazi Germany, where families' would turn in their innocent neighbors, to save themselves. And, jeez, the thought that I might be on somebody's secret shit list because I've written this very blog-post....well, if I turn up missin.....you all will know why. I hope I'm kidding. EH?

Tonight's debate was a boring re-hash of everything we've heard before. Including McCain's attempts to pull the wool over our eyes in regards to Obama's stance on just about everything and much of it the same wool he tried to use at the last debate. A really dumb thing to do when your opponent is standing right there. How many times did Obama have to set the record straight after McCain's lies? I don't remember McCain ever having to correct Obama's take on McCain's policies. I guess McCain doesn't realize that every time Obama caught him lying, he lost that much more integrity and thus the trust of the American people is getting thinner and thinner. The American people, even the Republicans, are not that stupid. I'm sure Republicans cannot believe that this old liar is the best they can do. Additionally, McCain's condescending manner was ever apparent, per usual. His reference to Obama as "That one." was puzzling, to say the least. That one what? I noticed, also, that McCain never brought up the Ayers controversy....and we all know the why of that, don't we. As Obama recently told the media, "I am not one to throw the first punch, but I definitely will be the one to throw the last." McCain is afraid of taking that last punch directly to the old kisser on live TV. It sure is beginning to look like this whole thing is 'in the bag', 'all sewn up' and the fat lady has begun warming up. Now, please, Barack, just kick back and enjoy the music.

DOG-GONE-IT!! JUMPIN GEE WILLIKERS!

CURRENT POLITICAL SCENE

The McCain attempt at discrediting Obama due to his past 'affiliation' with Ayers is a joke. Barack was 8 years old when Ayers was doing the dirty deeds. Obama slamming back with McCain's Keating 5 association was cool, tho. At least, it relates to our present economical mess. McCain WAS involved in the financial scam, although, in the end he was found to not have done anything illegal. Shady, Yes. Questionable? You betcha (Palin-speak). However, I do wish that Obama would just sit back and let the McCain ticket hang themselves. I wish he would not fall for the obvious 'swiftboating' techniques of the loser ticket. If McCain's most recent attack had any teeth at all, don't you think that the media would have been all over it by now? Afterall, nobody can trump McCain's association and glued-at-the-elbows relationship to the guy that will, when it all shakes out, go down as the biggest scoundrel in American history.....that being our dear Prez Bush!?!?

May I make a prediction? McCain will become Mr. Prissy Pants at tomorrow evening's debate. I'm quite sure he believes all the Fox Schmooze crap regarding the way Palin 'hit it out of the ballpark'. He will follow her suit and ignore questions, pull out the inevitable switcharooni, and otherwise try to stay away from the issue that counts most to most Americans - the economy. McCain will use his POW experience and the 'my friends' misnomer in an attempt to sway you and I from the truth of it.

In the next month, watch out for more lies, more accusations of questionable liaisons, etc. You might even see reports of increased terrorist acts in remote areas (there, I said it) in an attempt to scare you into voting Republican. The McCain ticket is in panic mode. And, hence, because HUGE MONEY is riding on the Republican ticket, I hope that Obama has the best fancy schmancy security team ever developed. Miss Prissy Pants, the Republican's other BIG problem, should be hoping her security team is pretty good, too.

A NOTE ON OUR ECONOMY

Now that the legislature has finally passed the Bailout Bill, I think we can all agree that today's international stock market numbers reflect the degree of confidence that America and the World has in our present administration's ability to alleviate the current financial crisis. In other words.....the key word in today's financial outlook.........YIKES!

THE TINIEST NOTE: THE OJ VERDICT
Its about freakin time, motherfucka!

PRISSY PANTS KNOCKS IT OUT OF THE BALLPARK!!!!!!!

Hahahahaha! NOT! I will say straight up that her overall debate appearance was better than I expected. I mean Sarah Palin didn't have a breakdown....she didn't start ballin and run out of the room....and she didn't stand there and lie her way thru....oh wait....yea, she did. Pre-packaged responses obvious, Palin had a huge problem staying on point even at the behest of the moderator, who constantly tried to pull her back in. I think Joe Biden did an outstanding job, didn't stick his foot in his mouth even once while supporting Obama. He came off as totally knowledgeable with all of his responses while Palin, when stumped, kept reverting back to energy and taxes. Personally, I think she should stay away from the tax arena or, at the very least, do her own homework, because I thought she was made to look the fool on that issue. Bottom line is that she didn't change anyone's mind. Except maybe a few uncommitted voters in Ohio, who according to the CNN graph, went off the top of the chart during many of Biden's responses and often dipped quickly during Palin's. I found it entertaining, also, that according to that same graph thingy, uncommitted women are not amused by Ms. Palin at all. Seemed every time Miss Prissy Pants opened her mouth, the yellow line would take a serious tumble. Which I'm sure McCain noticed, too, and will probably show up tomorrow with many less hairs on his old gray head.

Whoop, there it is!

SMART vs. NOT SO MUCH

Barry Sonnenfeld, Emmy-winning director, was on Letterman last nite. Responding to Dave's congrats on his recent Emmy, Mr. Sonnenfeld said that he was smart enough to have people around him that are incredibly smart, the best in the business. He went on to suggest that America should take the same view with the upcoming election. He pointed out that McCain graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy second to the last in his class and that Mrs. Prissy Pants went to 5 different colleges before actually managing to graduate. On the other side, Barack Obama graduated from Columbia University AND Harvard Law School at the top of his class, going on to become the first black man to serve as President of the Harvard Law Review. Since we all know what 'stupid' can do for our country (hint: Bush), these facts, alone, seem to be compelling enough to make our decision an easy one. By the way, since McCain lied last week directly into Letterman's ear and proceeded to dis him badly, Dave seems to be on a one man crusade to take the whole Republican ticket down. As a nightly Late Show viewer, I can tell you that its a riot. McCain supporters are probably pooping their prissy pants.

A McCAIN McMANSION IS FOR SALE

And this guy knows what my concerns are? Yikes....me thinks he thinks you and I are idiots. (Poor John McCain...he'll only have six houses now....)

My son, Russ, has informed me (see comments) that this house no longer belongs to the McCain's and its the new owner that is selling it. But I think y'all get the idea.....if he should end up in the White House, its hard for me to believe he will be watching out for us little guys (and girls - me!) Since BIG MONEY has financed most of his campaign, he will be taking care of BIG MONEY first. And when I say BIG MONEY, I hope you are thinking really, really HUGE.

But thanks, Russell, for keeping me honest!
